A few Fantome bottles from a small share last week.
*Sur Lie-Green cap that showed up in Omaha earlier this year or last? Strawberry juice, strong maltiness, an odd old shoe aroma and barley any carbonation. Very interesting.
*Desert Ghost-One of my favorite tomes so far. No clue what Sonoran ingredients were added, but it was like a spiced orange juice.
*Dark White-This was a really enjoyable bottle. More spices than anything else, but a really enjoyable black pepper/clove kind of thing going on. Very drinkable.
Aha! Thanks for the clarification danyP !hello ! " sur lie " is the Classic Fantome, black and white labels for Europe and the one i see there is the USA lable version .. Fantome ( sur lie ) is ! Fantome ( season) ! ... good description ! Thanks !
I picked up a bottle of ghost turtle yesterday. Looking forward to drinking it this week. Also grabbed a DMD Target Bond which I domed last night. Nice tome funk, will probably pick up another bottle or two for later.I don't know what Ghost Turtle is, but I have one and am looking forward to drinking it.

We are planning out family Europe trip in a few years. Wife doesn't understand why I need to spend a couple days in Belgium and one single day in Soy. This is why:
This is my favorite so far. It is interesting that all of the Fantome beer I have seen is simply described as farmhouse/saisons yet every bottle has been wildly different.
Take her to Galler if she likes chocolate. Thank me later. My wife is not in to visiting breweries at all and has really enjoyed Belgium all the times we've visited. I think as long as you don't make the entire few days exclusively about beer you'll be fine with the wife.
Whoa! Pics of that place look killer!Take her to Galler if she likes chocolate. Thank me later.
I ask everyone I know going to Brussels to bring me back chocolate from there. It’s that good.Whoa! Pics of that place look killer!

I trade Black Agnes for it, and you know how I am about my mead stash (and if you don’t - well let this set the bar).Even bad chocolate is pretty good.
Anyone seen new white cap Noel bottles? Either online or overseas? I don’t think any made it into the US right?
Dany, what about Hiver? Will that make it to USA? Not sure if the ones here are new or last yearssorry for, but i have brewed too late Xmass this year :-( ...it's the reason why ...
no Ft de Noël this year in Usa ... last chance is to buy ay Etregourmet.com .. or .. last years bottles in your shop .. ?..
sorry !!!

I’ll check next time I get to the store. There was definitely plenty on the shelf last weekend though.I feel like this might have been asked before, if not in here the other tome thread. But does anyone got the DMD Target Bond Ale sitting on shelves near them and willing to do a c&s or simple $4$ exchange?
Wanted to break in my new glass in style. Really loving this one. Some good saison funk character with lime and white pepper coming through for me. Bottle got a little gushy as it set.

Fantome is a must visit. I did it last year. It was about an hour drive from Brussels. I got there in the afternoon, spent a few hours at the brewery (tour, talking with Dany/Val, taproom drinks, buying way too many bottles, sobering up for the drive back, etc.).Having scored Quintessence tickets today, I will soon be planning my first Belgium trip. I will be traveling with my wife, two daughters (3, 6), and three friends (babysitting option among them). I anticipate the Quintessence day and one other day being dedicated almost exclusively to beer. Curious whether a Fantome/Tilquin day is feasible traveling from Brussels? How long should I allow for the Fantome visit experience? If it's not a long stop, anyone know if there is any worthwhile family stop in the southeastern area of the country?
Will probably be x-posting a bunch of Belgium questions over the next few weeks, but Fantome is a must-visit for me, so I want to start here!

I got back to Brussels that evening. You should be able to get back to Brussels for a reasonably timed dinner. But I would plan on the trip eating up a good portion of the day.
The brewery is out in the country. I'm not sure about activities in the surrounding area. Make sure you communicate with Dany in the run up to your visit to find a time that works.
Great info, thanks! I was definitely planning for a full day and likely without the kids. Your day sounds like a great script--except without the sobering up part since my wife will DD!
Definitely plan to reach out to Dany. Figured I'd wait a bit to see what kind of planned visits might pop up for Quintessence week. I figure there'll be perhaps larger numbers than normal looking to make the trip that week.
