Yes, highly recommend, Dany was great to meet, such a great place. Definitely contact him ahead of time to arrange the visit, not sure how normal of weekend hours he has. Soy, and the surrounding countryside are beautiful.

The drive wasn’t bad at all, easy day trip, but might be nice to spend more time in that area, so booking a place would be good as well.
I'm going to be staying about an hour east of there. Any recommendations for other stuff to do around there?

We didn’t have a ton of time as we only did a day trip, but Achouffe is close if you want to see another brewery. We had lunch in Hotton, but can’t recall the name of the place. When we stopped at the grocery store in Hotton we found some of the cheapest beer prices around, stock up on some Orval and Rochefort.

I would write Dany and ask for suggestions.

Most recent batch, best by 2019, lot 2. Light vinegary tartness, brown maltiness, young tome' funk, crushed gingerbread men, winter spice cabinet. I was afraid I was opening this too soon and it'd be undercarbed but I'd domed most of the bottle by the time it caught up to me. Solid batch this year!

Paging LuxWanderer who has spent so much time there he’s paying Dany rent
Hahaha, I would totally pay rent there or work for my space :D Visiting is 100% worth it and a pretty easy trip to make. As suggested it is highly advised to email ahead and schedule a visit. Generally he is open Saturday's but not necessarily during the Winter months. He is happy to have visitors during the week too. In the surrounding area Hutton has some nice cafes, La Roche-en-Ardenne is a great little town with a castle/shopping/cafes, and if you are a Military/War buff or wanna be Bastogne is very close (tons of stuff in and around Bastogne).

On the drive down if you go through Namur it is also a nice little stop with a quality bottle shop in town.

My son loves going there with me because he can jump on the trampoline out back and search for all the ghosts around inside the brewery :)

I've got to ask, how easy is it to get around Belgium/France if you'd like visit say Fantome, Blaugies, Au Baron, places like that? I'm assuming renting a car is probably the only way to do it?

pretty much. Driving around is super easy, drinking only a little so you can still drive is the only downside. Still need to get myself out to Baron

Ordered some sur lie after not having it for quite a few years since it's not available locally. First one was almost flat. Guess I leave the other ones alone for a year or two.

Still basically flat. Flavor is a bit better. Wouldn't bother me so much if it were easier to get replacements.

I have no idea what he is saying but I'm in like a dirty shirt.

Here’s my mental translation:

He usually doesn’t brew a ton but did this year and the US importer contacted him too late to get it in time for the holidays so he’s got about 40 kegs he will sell. I’m guessing shipping and customs will be a hurdle but it seems as though he’s going to look into it.

Would make sense seeing as he has been offering pallates lately. Either way. In!
