This is the most strangely perfect GIF I've seen in a long time.

As previously stated, this was an uncorked bottle that was hissing (communicating) by the time I got it home. No batch info or bang by date. Consumed in three sittings. Light peppery yeast, maybe some smokey black pepper, a mild fruit juice sweetness that reminds me gummy candy (gets stronger towards the bottom of the bottle) and some pils type malts. Damn near perfect bottle conditioning. Effervescent and dry.

Overall, the butt pinch on this bottle was focused and deliberate, when the ghost whispers don't deny it.

Got my recent etre box before they even gave me shipping info. I already fired into the 2/18 saison and blanchot.

Not the biggest fan of blanchot. Its phenolic, dry and bitter somewhat similar to the last round of blanche that was more hoppy and less like prior blanches I adored.

Also not in love with this batch of classic saison. I think I read a glowing review in here earlier which is what prompted me to make it comprise half of my total order this time. Definitely regretting that decision now but maybe the other bottles will be different or I should forget about them for a couple years then revisit.

Classic is also phenolic and bitter. Almost identical to blanchot except it has an added sorta unripe strawberry hint to it and more booziness.

I haven't opened a new Blanche bottle since the initial drop. I'm hoping they improve with some time in the bottle. I may revisit this week and update the thread when I do.

If you get into a B3 Tous les D'iapes, let us know how it is! Fingers crossed it's as good as the first couple batches...

I only ordered 1 because I was in love with batch 1 and thought 2 was mucho different.

Will drink all 3 batches for science this weekend maybe. Already 2 tomes deep on a work night, probably shouldnt shoot for 5.

True. B1 fairly fresh was perhaps my favorite saison I've ever had and the beer that got me hooked on Tomes. B2 fresh wasn't as good but it seems to be developing well. I look forward to hearing your science thoughts this weekend!

Give them time, that sharp bitterness often drops out, the last Blanche batch really turned around after a few months. The last box from Etre had some really fresh bottles, most were like that and I wasn’t grooving on them.

I’m not sure if I have this new batch of Classic, but the last I got on Etre was amazing, more tropical notes, let’s strawberry.

Pissenlit that recently hit town. Best before end 2019, lot 2a 16.
I spent most of the bottle trying to figure out what exactly I was tasting. Liliacs, oily black pepper, some menthol, white pepper, light Fantome fruit juice sweetness, caramel malt finish. Expertly carbonated. Paired really well with steak.

One thing about all these new Fantomes hitting the shelves here is that they're all carbed up and ready to go. It seems like a few years ago if you opened a new Fantome they were low carbonation w a heavy body and lots of that fruit sweetness.

Sometimes, if you look close enough and at the right moment, the ghost is actually staring back at you. Truely majestic!

This is also b3 of de tous, never had batch one and this doesn’t seem like b2 at all. Matter of fact if you slapped a pretemps label on it, it’d make more sense. Not bad at all, but missing that lime zest I loved so much from the last batch.

Really herbal then?

well that's not in any way what I was hoping for, which was a return of the strawberry limeade esque b1

Yeah I still got a lot of limeade from b2, was disappoint to find non in this bottle.

B1 was like a funky Capri Sun. Orangey citrus. Some lime zest. That and Sante 19 are two of my favorite Tomes of all time. Both great right out of the gate, and didn't have that 6-month+ "lag" time.

B2 was closer to Strawberry Lemonade to me. But I can see the limeade thing.

Was hoping B3 would follow the Citrus thing, but still pumped to do the World Cup "vertical" in a couple months.

Serious Knowers: I opened a Blanche from the most recent batch and am happy to report it is banging! It doesn’t even taste like the same beer from a few months ago. The harsh, herbal bitterness that dominated the taste has significantly faded (it is still present but seriously diminished) and the grapefruit has started to come through in a big way. Add to that a lively carbonation and distinctive Fantome funk, the beer is a banger. I can’t wait to revisit in a month or so when hopefully the bitterness fully fades and the ghost completely takes over. Very, very happy right now.

Bought a Lea's Journey today and thought of you and the bottle share I want to have. Getting close to 25 different fantome's so far lol
