yes...thats what Im saying. His stuff is pretty different. Even the announcers indicated that was the case. Again, I watched the whole outing. He was impressive.

Bob Costas is a nice guy and all, but he's NOT an authority on baseball...I must be spoiled as I get to listen to the greatest baseball announcer that ever lived...Vin Scully:rockin:

so, you're saying you disagree. Then, you watched it?
I was the first person to post about Strausburgs debut. I watched every pitch he threw. I already posted my thoughts on his first MLB start. Yes,I disagree that the Blue "had a hard time calling balls/strikes,cause he throws so hard" He's throwing 99 mph, not 109 mph.

I'm not saying he isn't already a "star"(because of the media) but he's got along way to go in my book. wait til more ball clubs get a full scouting report on him after 3-4 starts.

agreed...It wasn't necessarily because of the speed; maybe it was that he changed speed so well and he was just a new pitcher. But the ump did flinch more than once and looked unsure a few times.

I was impressed by his composure...with all the hype and attention that would be tough to focus on pitching. I was surprised at his size too (I basically knew nothing about the kid before yesterday) Hes a pretty big dude

I also agree that he handled the 3 ring circus that became his debut very well! I loved that Morgan and Zimmerman from the Nats referred to him as the "kid"

I really think that his fastballs aren't anything special. His 4 seam and 1 seam fastballs are only 2 mph apart and the movement isn't anything spectacular. He pitched as well as he did for HUGE reason...The changeup he learned this year in the minors...He threw 11 change ups(8 for called strikes and 4 that were swung on) Although he did get caught throwing one change up at the knees of delwyn young, who then took him yard:rockin:

His "Slurve" enticed batters to swing as it looks too good to be true and then drops outta the strike zone. He threw alot of slurves for strikes(18/25) too many of his slurves were letter high and he will get bombed if he doesn''t keep them down against better hitters.

Granted, there are a few others who can throw in the mid to upper 90s. I still think that a guy that can do so is pretty damn special. Last year, Bobby Parnell hit triple digits at a game at Fenway. That was pretty damn special, and one of the high points for the Mets 2009 season.

To prove your point, Othon, this year, Parnell is in the minor leagues. You're right, throwing sharp cheddar is great, but its only one aspect. Parnell is now working on developing more of an arsenal.

I think that Strasburg can do for baseball what McGwire and Sosa **cough steroids cough** did back in 1998. Strasburg can bring something special to the game that brings back interest. The game needs some pure talent like that.

QFT. He's good, but yea as soon as some people start watching him on tape we'll see what his real colors are. I don't understand everyone making such a big deal about it. It was a very controlled start at home against a so-so(and that is being generous) team.

Prior to the game, the Baseball HOF didn't want any memorabilia from his first start. After watching the game, they reconsidered.

Also, he cured cancer with one of his curveballs.

exactly. lets let the kid pitch a season or 2 before we "LeBron" him:rolleyes:

Speaking of Lebron or "King James"...I cannot stand it when people call him the "best NBA player" clearly he's a great athlete. But he HAS NO RINGS! that settles it for me.

Lets go lakers tonight, game 4 baby! I want pierce to eat his words,"We're not going back to LA"

I posted about the open team. Let's see if anyone is interested. If you know of someone who might be, or if you talk baseball with someone on the site here, ask them if they're interested.

I am dominating by .1 points! all comes down to Sunday. I have a bunch of bums on the mound...I will probably lose.

Good game though NE

You too man. I thought you had me by midweek though. I am lucky I had Zito and Cueto on multiple start weeks. Unfortunately, they faced each other on Monday, and neither got the win.

Looks like I'm gonna lose for the 3rd time in 3 weeks! Got worked this week. I have 2 BYE weeks in a row and then come back to face Ray and the Goose Boners(Gulp)

Hoppy, as it stands right now, it looks like you got this one about wrapped up. You had a huge day today. I had decided to bench Bay today. Of course, he goes 4 for 4 with a HR.

Ouch! Isn't that the worst feeling?

It's brutal. As of 2pm today, we were a point apart. I just checked now. Hoppy's got a 50 point lead right now.

Old I know but:

So tomorrow is my first game back and I have two pitchers, Zito and Cueto, facing each other. Yay!

I was fortunate to pick up both Lilly and Floyd last week and played them both against eachother...no hitter to the 7th and a no hitter to the 8th, not bad...to bad I didnt need the points being lucky enough to have 100 ahead into the last day. Although I dropped Lilly heading into a week to face weaver, I have a little more faith in weaver. Then again I thought the same thing for Hammel vs Morrow and his slugging Jays and we saw how that worked out, good grab Othon.

Not to sound like I am tooting my own horn but by the end of day 3 I noticed I was ahead of the league for the weeks points, the final 3 days changed from making sure I beat lipstick to trying to beat the league for the week(which of course would include lipstick), a third high krausen sounded cool. I owe my players a lot for having a great/lucky week. I just hope playing Rat Squad, I dont pull a Rat Squad falling from "the penthouse to the outhouse" if and my teams "stuff" turns into "wussy fizzy yellow beer".[Stone Brewing Co. reference for you easters]

Hey Mark Grebowsky how long have you been playing FFBB and is your teams name from where I think it is? Also you can respond or deny my trades if you dont like them, It wont hurt my feelings I promise. lol

anyone know what to do if a players espn playercard says a player has had a number of starts at a position but it is different than on the fantasy baseball teams eligibility tab count?

That's a good question. There is likely some link on the site somewhere that you can email those types of questions or issues to.

I had a similar question developing as I've had Buster Posey since his call up and they only had C listed in his positions. I believe he has been playing 1B regularly since his call up. They listed 1B in his positions in the past few days.

Usually they pick up on things pretty quickly.

Dammit! Baker and Verlander decide to strike out 12 and 11(respectively) on my first bye week! fawk my life
