Just made my first first batch of FF IPA. I have to say this way was my fastest going all grain brew day. With my hops filter I made.

Figured I would post the grain bill as well.

11.75 lbs american 2-row
1 lb crystal 40
.8 oz torrified wheat

2oz FF 60min
1oz FF 40min
.5oz FF 45min

Dry hop with 1.50oz for 14 days

mashed at 149 1 hour

pbg was 1.060
og 1.072

Wyeast 1056

Hop spiders make life and brewing so much easier. What was your Ibu with this, 2oz is a heck of a bittering charge. keep us posted as to how it turns out.

Based of AA% it should be right at 91 IBU. And you aint lying it made it so much easier.

Checked the fermenter today and the blowoff tube still has a lot of activity. So I'm going to wait until Saturday or Sunday before I transfer it into the secondary and dry hop. The last batch I did with 1056 did the same thing(fist time using) this stuff works really hard in a good way. If that makes sense.

Right at day six and still have a krausen on it. Fermentation as been really active on this batch. Only the second time I have used Wyeast 1056.

surprised so many hops up front and none at the tail? I'd almost double that dry hop addition as well.

Weird hop schedule for an IPA. Just use Magnum or Warrior if you want a bitter hop bomb. Save that FF for 15 min and less, up that dry hop!

I'm betting his hop schedule as listed has a typo and
.5oz FF 45min
was actually
.5oz FF 15min.

Still, lots of room for late additions there.

Indeed.

Cheers! :mug:
You are correct. But I'm just playing around can always make another batch to improve and adjust the hop bomb.

How does the FF taste? Gonna use this hop here in an upcoming beer and am pretty stoked to use it.

I don't know yet, but it will be ready to keg on Thursday. It smells awesome
In the fermenter bucket. I will be sure to post first tasting notes.

Just took a gravity reading and it's down to 1.006. And the aroma and bitterness are freaking spot on! This has been my best beer yet, and this will totally be made again and on the reg. Can't wait to get this in the keg and carbonated.

sweet bro good to hear. Once its cold and carbonated you are probably going to have that gone in no time.

This is what I did with one I just bottled. Magnum to bitter and FF as late additions and dry hop.

To me, it gives a citrus peel flavor.

Yeah, I agree with the citrus peel flavor. Going to put it into the keg probably tonight or tomorrow. I'm sure the aroma will be amplified once it is carbonated.
