F***!!! First Blow off.

I had my first blowout this weekend with NB Bourbon Barrel Porter. After cleaning and replacing the airlock 3 times it actually blew the lid and center piece out of the airlock (ended up a few feet away)!

What is a 1% booster?

I've had a blow out as well, not too bad but it was a bitch to clean. My tubing on my blow off tube wasn't big enough.

I think it's sugar or DME or a mix of the two.

Almost happened to me with the beer I brewed on Christmas day. I woke up in the morning to see krausen spurting out of the airlocks. I quickly grabbed some tubing and hooked up a blowoff. When I pulled the airlock out I got a nice spray of foam on me, but much better than having it end up on the ceiling, walls, floor, etc if I hadn't caught it.

I think its just sugar, its an add on you can buy to to add 1 more percent of ABV to the final product.
