After brewing for a few years I decided to grow my own hops. I'm going with 20'' pots for the first year, filled with Miracle Grow Potting Mix. I planted Chinook, Columbus, and Cascade about a month ago since the weather here in Cleveland has been unseasonably mild. After a week, we got some bad weather (lot of rain, high winds) and the mounds I planted my Columbus and Cascade in got worn away, exposing the rhizomes. I rebuilt the mounds and replanted them as soon as I saw this (they seemed to have dried out a bit when I got to them as the next day was warm and sunny). The Cascade had a small bine which was lost. Now a few weeks later, only the Chinook, which remained unexposed, has broken ground (about a 6'' bine now). I assume they will be fine, and am attributing the lack of growth to the recent temperature drops, but want to make sure because I have a couple of other rhizomes on stand-by should these not work out.
