Hi there Ive only been home brewing for a couple of months now and have made (and drank:drunk:) the coopers Australian lager kit. Which was quite nice, a little bit watery but all the same I was really happy with the end result.
Since then I have done another couple of brews which are conditioning as we speak.
While waiting for these brews to condition I thought I would knock up another Oz lager kit but this time I thought I'd jazz it up a little bit.
I like polish beers so picked up some Marynka hops and boiled up about 30g of these in some water and added it to my wort and Instead of using the brew enhancer 1, I used the brew enhancer 2 to try to give it a little bit more mouth feel as i felt with the BE1 it was a little bit watery.
I tried to get some lublin/lubelski hops to dry hop with at the end of the ferment before bottling, but couldn't get a hold of any and so will use some saaz instead.
Does anyone think this will turn out OK as I am now beginning to worry because I am still quite new to all of this.

I think you'll be fine. Next time, try boiling the hops in a couple of liters of water along with the Coopers Brew Enhancer for a few minutes, then add that to the fermenter.

Good on yer for experimenting! :mug:

Welcome to the board Pete!

You'll be fine, it's beer!

Cheers!

Thanks for the replies guys. I just needed a little reassurance as I'm so new to this. I don't know if you guys have ever used these marynka hops but they are just the most amazing smelling hops I've ever smelt. I'm really looking forward to this beer now.

I have a few tips for you to try

use only 19-20liters of water it really reduces the wateryness.
if possible keep fermentation @ 66f or 19c.

these help alot with flavor.but the brews you made will be good im sure.

Cheers Mayo. Already made a couple of brews since the first watery one and have reduced the water content to about 20 litres. It does make a difference. Mexican cerveza at 20 litres is a really nice beer. Still finding my feet but learning something new with every brew I do. The next issue I am trying to resolve is poor carbonation from coopers carbonation drops using 500ml bottles. They say to use 1 but also say use 1 in a stubbie (375ml). 1 is not enough, so I cut some in half and used 1 and a half in some of my bottles. The difference is massive. Going to get another fv and a syphon from my lhbs and batch prime from now on because it's a pain in the ass chopping up those carb drops.
