No offense intended, but Philly had a weak sauce forecheck. Every time they got close to Brodeur, he fumbled the puck. Right now, the Rangers have a powerful forecheck. They get the puck deep, making the defensive team skate more, they can change on the fly while putting pressure on, and they have generated a lot of scoring chances from back there. For the last 3 games, Washington has had brutal 3rd period play. Recalling how many times I heard Pierre mention "Green and Alzner are dead out there."
Washington has a tremendous amount of talent and grit. Backstrom has wheels! Laich, Hendricks, and Knuble have really found their stride.
Right now New York has their high-dollar forwards contributing, Staal is having the series of his life, and they are finding the right line combinations to generate energy and chances. Note I said chances, not shots. Shots/saves aren't as critical as chances in my opinion. Just because you rip it off the crossbar or whiz the shot right past the goalie's ear doesn't mean you aren't generating offense!!!

It's been said that the Caps are turning the Rangers playing style against them. Mainly shot blocking. So they should turn the Caps style against them. Big blasts from the blueline. Give em something to block, then then stick em on the rebounds!!
