I was too late to join my office pool. Which is too bad too, because they're not overly knowledgeable hockey fans (office full of women and lawyers!) for the most part, and first prize last year was like 900$.

Oh well, just have to make money off betting on pro-line.

Sorry, but you are wrong. This is the exact wording from http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=26480

69.4 Contact Outside the Goal Crease - If an attacking player initiates any contact with a goalkeeper, other than incidental contact, while the goalkeeper is outside his goal crease, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed.

A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an attacking player makes unnecessary contact with the goalkeeper. However, incidental contact will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such unnecessary contact.

Lucic didn't make any effort to not hit Miller at all, hence it's illegal (and that's why he got 2 minutes). I don't think a suspension is in order though, but with Shanahan suspending guys for foul language and dirty looks these days, who knows.

Miller should have whined to the media about his own team though, who didn't do crap when it happened. Even if Kaleta had of taken a run at Thomas on the next shift, woudl have been ok with me. Miller can't hang around after the game to cry to the media and call out Lucic. THAT is a gutless move, Ryan.

Ah, well that's a crap rule IMO. I still stand by my opinion that goalies should stay home and let the players who are allowed to hit each other have the ice. We need more goalies who aren't little bi7ches playing the game.

I tend to agree with you, but the problem is right now at this very second, that's not the rule and it's not how it works. How Lucic got away with no suspension is confusing, especially when you can get a couple games for giving a player a dirty look these days. Haven't seen any Shanahan explanation video yet for this one, but I admittedly have not been looking.

Shanny's dealing with head shots mostly. This was a nice shoulder to shoulder hit., he saw it coming and prepared for the hit by raising his arm. He was not hit from behind, nor was he vulnerable (you could even go so far as to say he was quite the opposite, since he was wearing a 1/2 metric ton of goalie pads...)

I agree 100% with you.
Problem is, it's Gary's league, and he's hell bent on turning it into the ice capades.

Problem is goalie equipment isn't made for hitting people like player equipment is. Goalie shoulder pads aren't hard plastic at all - it's just really dense foam that is designed to absorb the energy of a small object hitting it. I play both goal and forward, and the differences in equpment are very different above the waist.

The rule that goalies aren't fair game has been around for quite some time - it's nothing new. If it were a fact that goaltenders were fair game outside of the crease, then the equipment would be made to better protect them in this manner.

I'm all for rule changes to keep keepers in their crease, but as of right now one does not exist - nor has it ever as far as I know.

Ben Scrivens has been absolutely incredible since the first 2 Phoenix goals.

This is the best OT period I've ever seen. Shame it's only 5 minutes and we have to go to a dumb shootout.

Yes. It was awesome. I'll take Neal's three points in fantasy, but a Colorado win would have been nice.

With no hometown team I've become much more of a fantasy fan (which I really don't like). I follow the Sabres as much as I can, but VS doesn't show Sabres games too often, although they have been more frequent this year. That being said I would have loved a Devils win tonight (Hedberg).

Spent all night patching my friend's daughter's brake lines that had rusted through. Got in the house late to find the wife did not record the game.

WTF, woman??

I was so mad I just turned over and went right to sleep. THAT will teach her!

A few well-placed farts will set her straight.

Coincidentally, I was playing Bach on the booty horn all night.

I think she was already asleep by then.

Amateur. Let it build up under the covers, and then release it before "accidentally" waking her up (in your sleep, of course.)

Yes. Pens fan here but his (Duschene's) move was incredible. (Fluery also looked shaky in the first period.)

Fortunately for Pittsburgh, unfortunately for Colorado, the 3rd period the Av's just fell apart.

Varly was like Swiss cheese although a couple of the goals where really awesome and yet a few others where greasy as hell. You know when Orpik scores it went in on accident... Or maybe the puck was afraid if the candyman!
