Hi all, thought I'd best get round to saying hello rather than surreptitiously lurking in the background!

I've just started brewing all grain (jumped in at the deep end and didn't bother with the kits - onto my 5th brew now) in the UK, Northern England to be more precise.

I'm a big real ale fan but have got into American Craft brews recently, at least the handful that we get over here - been enjoying reading all the threads and looking forward to trying out a lot of the recipes people have here. Just tried my first bottle of the DFH60 clone and that worked out great!

Hi,

One of my other hobbies is genealogy and my mother's grandmother's family was from Sheffield (Nicholson). The story goes that the people who drank the most there lived the longest. They were the ones that missed work most and missed the bad working conditions there from the metal industries.

I've never been to Sheffield but have probably been close to there.

Thanks for the welcomes guys!

JMass - I know a few Nicholsons in Sheffield, I'd like to think too that drinking excessive amounts can prolong your life. The steelworks would usually have an on-site pub and it wasn't uncommon for the steelworkers to drink 10 or more pints a shift, god knows what the others too drunk to work were drinking!
