I was looking up something the other day, and I noticed that my "anniversary date" had past but it was in June 2006.

I feel like paraphrasing that Bob Seger song where he says, "Twenty years. Where'd they go?" to "Eight years? Where'd they go?"

Eight years on this forum, being obsessed with brewing, and getting to hang out with my imaginary friends. Four NHCs. Many miles of "beercation". And some of my imaginary friends became very close friends in real life.

Eight years. So many life changes! Kids grew up, left home, and one had her own kids. I have two grandsons now. I have an older dog now. My brew system is bigger and better. I bought a cottage, retired, went back to work a bit, and started spending part of the winter in S. Texas.

Eight years.

Wow.

I hear ya. I was putting together historical data a few weeks ago at work, and I realized I was there when it happened. It used to be, I put that stuff together and it was stuff I had nothing to do with.

Or read a post about fishing a lake from 2010, think that's recent, and then realize it's not.

This sort of thing encourages me to do things.

Prosit, may there be many more such anniversaries.

I work for a family company, and realized that the 4th generation of the family, now an executive, was in elementary school when I was hired. I started my Sales career when he started college!

The key is doing things we love, to make up for those things we don't.

I joined HBT about 9 months after you. In a strange stalker kind of way, I've enjoyed being an imaginary part of most of your eight years. No time for reflection. There's still plenty of fun to be had.

Ah, but since we have actually had beers together in person, you no longer qualify as an "imaginary friend"!

I used to keep track of how many people from this forum I"ve actually met in person, but stopped several years ago. I'm sure it's more than several hundred by now. But some have stayed real friends, and I am so happy about that!

If you ever make your way near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (it's not that far from Upper Michigan), let me know. Ottawa's got a great craft beer scene, and I've usually got between 5-10 kegs of homebrew on tap. My treat.

Yeah. That didn't come off the way I planned it.

If I say I want to see the new version, I'm a two timing perv.
If I say I don't, I'm still a dirty old man. Damn!

I like the idea of switching the conversation to fishing and beer.
:tank:

Got some nice bluegills! We don't keep the gigantic ones, as they go back, but several 10+ inchers, and at least one 11+ inches.

You know what that means?!? fish fry for Yooperpalooza.

Now, after a Gin & Tonic and a hot shower, we're at the cottage listening o music and relaxing. Tomorrow will be a brewday.

Life is good.
