I am looking for a dry yeast derived from Augustiner. I know most of the origins are speculation, and my research has yet to lead me to a definitive conclusion. Mangrove Jack M76 is my best bet for a dry yeast that is/could be derived from the Augustiner strain. Thoughts? Thanks for the input!

WLP860 is supposedly one of the Augustiner strains. I can't believe they are making dry yeasts now! I'm very excited about this. It will be hard to find, though. Thank you!

" I can't believe they are making dry yeasts now!" Lallemand Brewing makes it.

Has anyone tested WLP860 dry?

Have used it several times and I am seriously considering making it my house lager yeast, except for Czech lagers. It's got a little bit of a lag time to get going, but once it does, it ferments well and leaves a clean lager behind, though it has just medium flocculation. But time and Clarity Ferm take care of that issue! Have used it in a Helles, Helles Export and a Dunkles Bock, all three turned out fantastic. All three did well in comps with the first two scoring a high of 45.

That is positive, I have difficulties sourcing this strain in my country but luckily the dry version is available. Love the idea of using Clarity Ferm, do you have better results with it than Biofine or gelatin?

I have never used Biofine, but I think gelatin works just as well, and maybe even better. I misspoke though when I said Clarity Ferm as it's Clearzyme that I use. Basically the same thing as Clarity Ferm just made by a different company. However I like that fact that it reduces the gluten in the beer.
