Hi I brewed my first double IPA about a month ago and was very happy with it. The Fermentation went well and it came out around 9% ABV. All that was left was to dry hop and and cold crash which I figured I could do at the same time so I added the hops and put it in the fridge. I only planned on dry hopping for 7 days but it's been over a month now. I got super busy and never had time to bottle. So my question is did I ruin a perfectly good beer? I'm planning on bottling tomorrow so I guess I'll find out for myself but I wanted your opinions.

A lot of people on here dry hop in their serving kegs, which I doubt kick in a week or two. With the beer being cold, the oils extract slower. All in all, I'd say your beer should be good to go. As stated, give it the taste test and see how it is.

I agree with the previous comments: smell and taste it. That's the best way to tell if it's not good. Generally, I dry hop for about 4-6 days BEFORE I cold crash. Then I cold crash for about 3 days. This way, it gives the dry hops time to do their thing, and then the cold crashing helps settle out all of the suspended dry hop particles, which makes bottling a breeze.

You've come this far, so why not try it out and see what you got. Worst case it might be "grassy". Best case, it turns out fine.

Personally unless it tastes like you are chewing on your lawn I'd bottle it and let it carbonate. Taste out of the fermenter will give you an idea of what will be like, but you really don't know until it is full carbonated what it really will be like. Cheers.

It's probably not ruined, but I've heard if you dry hop for too long it can give the beer a "stemmy" taste. Some people dry hop for as little as three days. I like to dry hop mine from 5 - 7 days.

1 month dry hop is long, the flavor wont be as fresh, But shouldnt be bad either. Taste it!

I now dry hop for just 3 or 4 days before bottling, after reading the Xbmt from Brulosophy. It definitely gives it a nice kick without being grassy or overly melo

FWIW, I recently dry hopped a Heady Topper Clone. 4 days in the primary and put the second dry hop in the keg. The first 1-3 weeks the beer was awesome. After that it was still good but it had an increased bitterness to it. Not sure if it was from the extended second dry hop or not.
