I need to quit brewing while drinking. This is the 2nd time I forgot to take a reading. I also ended up with a gallon more wort than expected. I polished off a 12 pack and barely remember the end of my brew session :drunk: Good news is its bubbling away right now.

need the recipe and the final quantity of wort. we can get you a ballpark figure

It was the Caramel Amber Ale recipe posted in the recipe section here. It was scaled down to the batch size of 4.25 gallons. How I ended up with 5.5 gallons I have no idea. :drunk: :tank:

6.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 75.0 %
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 80L (80.0 SRM) Grain 12.5 %
0.25 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) Grain 3.1 %
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50%] (60 min) Hops 19.5 IBU
1.00 oz Williamette [4.70%] (30 min) Hops 12.8 IBU
1.00 oz Williamette [4.70%] (0 min) Hops -
0.75 lb Deep Amber Candi Sugar (40.0 SRM) Sugar 9.4 %
1 Pkgs Nottingham (Danstar #-) Yeast-Ale

At 75% efficiency, that would be about 1.042, I believe...

Yep thats what beersmith says. Last brew I got 73% efficiency. Hopefully I got higher than that considering the last of the sparge was pretty clear unlike my last brew that still had some color when I quit collecting. It will probably be a low 4ish % beer I was hoping for a 5+ % but oh well its still beer.

you can use hopville.com's beer calculus to get a pretty accurate OG#. But AZ's # looks pretty close to right just at first glance without thinking too thoroughly about ppg.
