There's a Smashing Pumpkins song where Billy Corgan croons "Drinkin' strawwwwwwberrrry winnnnneee / Forever lossssssttt in tiiiiiimmmee".
So of course being a rabid Pumpkinhead, I need to brew strawberry wine, and I want to start soon so I can drink it next October or Christmas.
Anybody done it, or have some guidelines for doing it? I've never done any type of wine before, just beer and a few braggots.
Specifically, I was wondering:
1. Fresh strawberries? How much, and what's the technique for gettin' the juices out of 'em (just smash 'em and strain, or let 'em sit for a while with water?)
2. Do I need to even do a boil? Wouldn't that take lots of the strawberry flavor out of the juice?
3. What type of yeast?
4. Do I need to use sugar also, or are there enough fermentables in strawberries?
