Drilling hole trough kreezer

Hey everyone,

Ive had a 7.0 G.E. chest freezer for a couple of months now, and I just purchased a tower, I need to drill a hole on the lid so i can get the serving hose into the the freezer. So my question is it safe to do this? Im pretty sure there is no free on since the lid itself can get detached. Just double checking before i drill away.

fine to drill the lid. theres not much structure to it, so you may need to put a backer of some sort on the underside to attach the tower to so it doesnt rip out of the lid.
