I recently purchased a Crankandstein 320D 3 roller mill along with a Hitachi DS 18DFL 18V cordless with Lithium Ion batteries to power the mill. Tried them out this weekend and it was a disaster. The drill did not seem to have enough torque/power to turn the mill rollers. To make matters worse, the chuck stuck on the driveshaft and took a great deal of work to loosen/get the drill off. I won't repeat this scenario again.

What drill/how much power or torque will I need to operate this mill? I would have thought that the Hitachi would have been sufficient but apparently not. Thanks, Montanaandy

Cordless drills have their place, but IMO I think a big corded drill is a better powerplant for a mill. Inexpensive 1/2" drill from harbor freight.
