I got #2, 27.5oz beer mugs for 1 dollar each at The Dollar Tree. Here's a pic of my Hopacolypse Now IPA in a whoppin' 27.5 oz mug. They also have some regular american pint glasses and some goblets all for a buck. Prost!

Thanks for the tip, I'll check them out! I almost looked through the glassware collection at the goodwill while halloween costume shopping, but something about buying second hand glassware felt weird to me.

Second hand anything feels weird to me. I have issues.

I need a mug i dont have one yet. I finally found a Sam Adams boston lager glass-im pretty content now.

I bought 6 mugs and a dozen pint glasses from them about a year ago, ya can't beat their prices. and for you one dollar.:mug:

Pftt. Dollar? Rip-off, who needs that when you can just throw some(free) sand into your oven and make your own glasses.ha

I like splitting a case of libbey glasses from the local restaurant supply store, they're slightly more than a dollar a piece but I know they've been heat treated.

I find most of my glasses at thrift stores. Nothing wrong with any of them. Tulips, standard pints, even a couple of chimay glasses.

Same here. I got tired of spending good money on glasses just to have them slip out my hands and shatter while washing them. Now I get tulips, snifters, pilsner glasses, and the occasional goblet at Salvation Army for about 50 cents a piece.

Yup.

The dollar store glasswear is ok but I killed it pretty quickly. The thrift store glasses are cooler and usually far better glassware.

I'm pretty happy with my pilsner pints from Dollar Tree. They make a pretty good poor man's stout glass.
I bought a dozen. The toddler has only destroyed 2.

Just got a couple Stella glasses for $1.99. Bought a dogfish head chalice, a Bass, and tres pistoles for 2.49 each at Andersons in Toledo a while back.

Most likely folks putting their beer glasses in the dishwasher. Bad juju...

Cheers!

Why? Unless you're talking about jet dry, it's just flying water, soap, and hot air.

Good to know! Does this apply to liquid detergent too?

Almost all automatic dishwasher compounds have some form of abrasive - like fine pumice. I never put my SA glasses in the dishwasher and they look brand new, while my youngest son put his in his dishwasher and most of the artwork has been blasted away...

Cheers!

I love thrift stores and antique stores for beer glass hunting...have also scored on carboys at antique stores.

I've already bought a couple of those! Also got a few pilsner glasses there. Didn't need em but I couldn't resist!

Maybe its me, but i prefer my pint glasses "ala nud" without any printing on them. Got a half dozen 16 oz pint glasses a year ago and have been using them for all my home brews ever since. The printing just gets in the way of the color and the bubbles anyway.

Glad I'm not the only one who does this. You can't beat the price on brand new glasses but I have noticed that the glass is pretty thin on the pilsner and weizen glasses I've bought there. The regular pint glasses are a little bit thicker but not as thick as I would like. The mugs on the other hand are burly as all get out.

I picked up 6 of those also a few months back! They hard pretty nice mugs and even better since they were only 1 dollar each!

You got to be careful at those dollar stores. Unless it's already been mentioned, some are deals and some aren't really. I went to the salvation army looking for furniture (great deals) and thought I would have a look at some glass. LOTS of good deals on beer mugs and glasses! I got a golden rimmed belgian style sniffer for .49 cents along with a bunch of others. (I think a lot of people that quit drinking and go to AA end up donating their glass sets)
