Did my first ag yesterday, a dry irish stout, and doing a wit today. I didnt worry about putting the hop pellets in any type of bag or tea ball yesterday, figured they wouldnt hurt anything. Today, I am doing a wit and wondering about the coriander and orange peels. It is a NB kit if that makes any difference. Should I bag those additions or just toss em in?

Thanks,
Mike in Duluth

When I did my wit, I just tossed 'em all in and did a good whirlpool at cooling, no problems.

+1.

The whirlpool at the end of chilling is really important to get all (most) of the stuff you don't want in your primary at the bottom of your boil kettle.

Coriander seeds typically float, so don't be surprised (and don't worry, some people add the spices in the primary) if you aren't able to get rid of them all.

I just did my first AG batch this weekend as well. I just happened to do a Wit. :) I've never really worried about the stuff in my pot. I've always just dumped it in with all of my extract brews and everything has always turned out great. So I did the same with my AG. :mug:

Unless they are ground. Which is how they typically go in.

I have poured the whole lot into the fermenter on a wit. No worries. Just brew your beer. All that junk will settle out in the primary.

Happy AG.
