Man those toys are all a crock of ****. I paid $20 for the Kong "Tiger Tested" Tuff ring because she trashed everything else. Untied rope toys, shredding anything stuffed including a quilt, and anything rubber based that she could find a weak spot, and if there was a weak spot, she found it. The kong had reinforced stitching that was covered by durable canvas. Entire toy was made of canvas, etc. Total bull****. My Golden Retriever took that thing apart at 6 months old in 24 hours. Either that tiger is a huge ***** or my Golden is a super hero.
:off:

Yeah, we got one of those for KB and he dismantled it in an afternoon. The only things he hasn't ripped to shreds is his black Kong and his little pink piggy which was a toy we got him when he was a puppy. He is very, VERY careful with that.

NOBODY messes with the piggy...

It (Goughnuts Maxx 50 donut) came in the mail a day early.

This thing feels like a solid rubber tire.

I'm going to bask in the glory of having an undestroyed toy for a couple minutes before giving it to him.

Dont you just love how so often the same dog who will absolutely obliterate a toy with extreme prejudice can be as gentle as a soap bubble with his people?

It's obviously not nearly as fun as a toy he can rip apart. For the first 16 minutes he kept giving me this "Really?" look and then went back to chewing on it. Then he would pick it up and pace around with it and go back to chewing.

At 16 minutes he started giving me big doggie grins.

After 20 minutes, not even a scratch on it. That's as long as his last two toys combined.

I think we have a keeper.

UPDATE: He chewed it for an hour solid. Still no marks on it. Then I took him for a 15 minute walk. He's worn out. It's nap time.

Gentile as a soap bubble until he gets excited and forgets he's not a puppy. He almost knocked me out saturday trying to jump through my head to get into the car because I wasn't adjusting the seats for him fast enough.

Here's my Stella after getting some lumps removed about a month ago. She's 13 now and still doing well, even though her eyesight and hearing are deteriorating quickly.

Interesting bit of my dog's psychology came out today.

My daughter went down to the park to the street hockey area, closed the gates and took him off leash. When we usually do this we take a ball for him to fetch. This time she rode around on her scooter and I tried chasing her. I thought he would be into the chase too.

He didn't chase after her or chase after me. He tried to block me from getting her. And if I tried to reverse directions to get around him, he would raise up and push me away with his front paws.

He definitely thinks his job is to stop predators. It explains why he only gets aggressive with other dogs when they act aggressive first and might explain why he sometimes barks at motorcycles and bicycles.

How is this thing holding up?

On a side note, we looked at the mushers secret wax and I think we're going to give it a try this winter instead of boots. Thanks for the input everyone.

Exactly. When I was a kid, we had a literal rat trap hotel behind us, and we had a shepherd/wolf mix that would occasionally 'corner' a rat on the back wall of the house that was easily 15 feet. Never forgot her speed... She played with that thing til it finally either gave up or had a heart attack, don't remember which. Large dogs especially were always bred as hunters, smaller dogs were bred as tunnel rodent hunters. Nature of the beast.

Sent from my BrewPhone using Home Brew, cuz I really didn't want to fire up the computer to post this.

It's still holding up. He's still wanting to play fetch with it. He hasn't really gone after any of my daughter's toys since we got it. He still goes after the cat's toy mice though.

It's still not as fun as a toy he can destroy. We played fetch with a stick at the park today. He shredded it when he was done.

We have never had a toy for him that has gone undamaged for five days. And it really nice because it gives him something he can take his energy out on when we come home.

It's not a cheap toy but it's probably the best money I've spent on him.

lol. No. You obviously never seen a dog with Parvovirus. Thank your lucky stars for that

Parvo is no joke. But a squirrel is less likely to transmit it than another dog is since it's transmitted through feces right? I've never seen a squirrel rolling around in dog logs in the park. Parvo is usually part of the 5 in 1 vaccine and shouldn't be a risk for a vaccinated adult dog or puppy.

I think when your dog get's it's immunizations as a puppy. Parvo is one of those. Those shots are hard on dogs, they are always messed up the rest of the day. After I get my shots I'm a little messed up to.

I got a flu shot but I'm still not going to let people sneeze in my face...just saying. I know when my dog kicked the sh!t out of a raccoon the vets main concern was parvovirus and distemper even though she was up to date on her shots. Not making any kind of judgement or anything just the idea of a dog carrying around a squirrel and then coming into the house to lick you seems gross. That said...my dog retrieves bloody birds every weekend and I don't find that gross. It's all perspective I suppose.

A buddy of mine had a huge GSD. He kept a patio door from his bedroom open to the back hard so the dog could go in and out at night. Now and then he'd wake up to a squirrel corpse on his pillow, left as a gift. Dog would be looking at him, smiling as if to say "Play with it dad! It's fun!!! Come on!"

I put a blanket on Tesla tonight. The forecast is for 8F and the boiler pump is out on the basement circuit. So the house is going to get cold tonight.

He was very concerned at first and looked at me with worried eyes. Then he figured out he is warmer and fell asleep.

My mom suggested buying a jacket for Tesla.

Do they make a size: vast? It could double as an area rug in the summer.

With out measuring, I'm guessing it would have to be about 30" x 36".

Sure they do. It's an offshoot of Carhart, but they call the company Cartarp. :D

This is Sam, we got him from the local Border Collie rescue about 1.5 years ago. A bit crazy at times, loves to go fishing, has mad skills at non-verbal communication, is a big ol' snugger in the cooler months, and he gets me to run every morning (even when its below 0).

Dosia. Energy of a five year old.... She's 12 and just started having seizures. She apparently has an enlarged heart but can't confirm that has anything to do with the seizures. Thank god for insurance ... More tests tomorrow

Pssttt... That's an Aussie mix. Look at the facial similarities to my dog Blue next to my username.
