I love brewing original beers, but sometimes you need a clone.

Is there a good, reliable recipe out there for Flying Dog Snake Dog Ale? It's just an IPA, but the ABV is high, and they claim they use 5 different hops. I don't know if there is really any point in using that many hops. I wonder whether it's actually possible to tell a beer with three hops from one with 5. But anyway, it's not sold in Florida any more.

They say they use "American Ale" yeast. I don't know if that's US-05 or what.

The recipe most likely changes over time, with ingredient availability.

Several variations online, heres one with comments from the brewer (circa, 2012):

Here's how I'd make it:

@ 75% Mash Efficiency

93% Pale
7% Crystal - 60L

Bry-97 or US-05 yeast

30 IBU - Warrior - Bittering Charge - 60 min (or first wort 90 min)
10 IBU - Columbus - Flavor Charge - 10 min
20 IBU - Citra Simcoe Mosaic - Whirlpool Charge - 180F - 10-15 minutes
Galaxy - Dry Hop
