do i need hose (worm clamps) for tap connects?

I just installed a second goose neck tap in my tower and was thinking "do i need to lock the hoses on going to the tap with hose clamps or do i not need to worry about leaking. In your towers to you have clamps on?

if i'm putting a 3/16" line over a 1/4" barb, i don't use clamps and have never had one blow off.

sounds snug i used 1/4 line over 1/4 barb so that may be too loose

Clamp them. Clamps are cheap and I'd hate to have a huge mess and wasted beer because I skipped installation of a $1 item.

Plastic zip ties will also work.

the prob i am having is trying to get everything put together with the clamps. I will try again. I am trying to cram a gooseneck and a strait tower shank in a 2.5" tower

Can you fit the hose prior to installing the gooseneck from the back?

+1 - this has never been an issue for me... yet I know myself, I will buy clamps and lock it down to just make sure...

I use the spring clamps like those found on the hoses under your cars hood, they hold quite well and all I need is a pair of needle nose pliers to move them into place

i can prefit the hose on but the problem is trying to get the bolt and all the apparatus put together enough that i can put the hose clamp on but not to much so i can screw the clamp tight. I will just have to trial and error it till i can get it together

I'm with Walker...

Use Oetiker clamps - Lowes, Home Despot, and Menards all sell them as PEX clamps. My LHBS has some too, for about $0.25 each. You crimp the ear to tighten them, and they are Extremely low-profile. I use a side cutter to compress them. No need for any special tools.

Is it really worth the risk? If a hose did pop off you'd have a 14 PSI beer powered super-soaker untill you blow the keg. Then it'll empty your CO2. Then you get home to find it, because you KNOW it won't happen while you're standing over the taps...

All for $0.50 worth of clamps?

I use them on everything - Cheap, permanent, and easy to remove (Just not re-usable)
