Do I have to maintain pressure in the keg?

My co2 set up is leaking at a rate of about .1 bar an hour. Can I still keg my beer. Say I keg it force carbonate it and than just shut off the co2 valve on the canister. That way I won't loose all of my co2.

It probably take me a week to drink this keg, than I'll go see what I can do about the co2 leak.

I don't think you're going to have much luck. If you force carb you're going to have to jack the pressure up, and that will increase your leak potential. Have you pinpointed the source of the leak? Keg, regulator, manifold, where is it? If it's anywhere on the keg you're not going to hold enough pressure to carbonate. If it's at the regulator you run the risk of damaging it to the point it won't work anymore. I would personally take care of the leak issue before trying to carbonate.

Have you looked for the leak? Spraying all the connections and the keg lid with Starsan has helped me find leaks in my system, that stuff bubbles very easily.

i didn't have a wrench to tighten the connection properly, got the wrench. It's been sitting for an hour I don't think the pressure dropped even by a .1 Going to wait a couple of hours to see if it drops. Is there any acceptable pressure drop say .1 bar in 10 hours. I'm not going to loose a lot of psi before the beer has been consumed. Lets say I wait 5 hours it was 1.2 bar now it's 1.1 bar. That seems like it could work.

Hopefully it stopped leaking and I can keg.

It looks like it dropped maybe 1 psi in an hour. This could be the ac making it colder or something. Going to have to wait overnight.

The leak even if it is there is small.

If the CO2 tank valve is open, the pressure should not drop, even with a slow leak. If the tank valve is closed, and the beer not fully carbonated, the pressure will drop as the beer absorbs CO2. Are you sure you have a leak? To carbonate properly, you have to have the tank open until carbonation is complete.

Brew on :mug:
