Not quite sure how this stacks up against prior deals, but the Briess dry extracts are $8.22/3 lb. I figured 9 lbs would be $24.66 and the cheapest shipping for this comes out to about $9.95, so $34.61 or $3.85/lb.

That is $16.99 at Northern Brewer! I haven't bought from NB for about 6 years (though I didn't brew for 5 of those 6) and I can't see why anyone is buying from them anymore. Do like their recipes, though.

Have you calculated shipping for larger amounts? In this scenario it looks to me the shipping kinda ruins the really good deal, in your case adding $3.32 to each 3 pound bag, putting them effectively at $11.54.

Still a bit better than, for example, at my LHBS (without special offers and discounts) which charges $13.95 for 3 pounds (Briess). Muntons is 2 quarters more, except they only have their dark and wheat DME.

There may also be sales tax on locally bought DME... although technically it's food.

They have muntons amber dme. One of my first beers was Pappazians Righteous American Ale: Amber DME, Cascade, Willamette, and S04. One of the simplest beers you can brew and came out quite good if I recall.
