I am around 7 months in to my brewing journey with small ~1 gallon batches. I have been looking in to kegging so of course that leads me to larger batches so then I have to start looking at larger equipment.

I have pretty much decided to go all in on 5 gallon batches as fewer brew days now sound good due to a new baby. I have looked hard at the all in ones, but I don't want to be limited by grain bill even if I might brew high gravity once or twice a year. I plan on doing eBIAB with a 15 gallon kettle.

I am an instrument and controls tech by trade so I am not intimidated by setting up my own controller and wiring everything. In fact, that's why the DIY route interests me so much. I also have a spare 50 amp 240v circuit that the previous owners of my house used to run their hot tub.

I am just wondering if anyone can provide a link or a thread that has some DIY information in it for the controller side of things. Every time I google it, it seems that I get more confused. I just need a nudge in the right direction.

Also check out BruControl.

If you go with an Electric Brewery type control system, I highly recommend you use Auber Instruments EZBoil controllers rather than generic PID's. The EZBoils have features not available with PID's, and they control temperature better (less over/under shoot) without having to fiddle around with tuning.

I also have a few design schematics for E-BIAB systems, if you are interested.
