DIY Removable Immersion Heater Design

Has anyone constructed a removable immersion heater using a spa or water-heater elements? I'm talking about something larger than the little bucket heaters

I think I have one worked out that will use a 5500 watt element, and will be suspended in my BK while in use, but then can be easily removed if I want to use the kettle on a gas burner instead.

If someone has done anything like this in the past, I would be interested in hearing about how it worked out?
