I'm getting my crankandstein 2s barebones grain mill in the mail tomorrow. I'm brewing on Sunday and I need to get it ready.

Anyone else use this?

Can I see a picture of your hopper for ideas?!

Could but you would need a shiev and a pulley to reduce the rpms. That motor probably is around 1700 rpms you would want to get it down to around 200.

I'd suggest pricing the pulleys before you buy the motor. That's more than enough horsepower. I have a 12" pulley on my mill, and 2" on the motor. I now have a 1/2 hp motor, as the prior 1/4 hp motor could choke on wheat malt. The motor is 1725 rpm, and with the pulleys I get 250 rpm at the mill. I get a bit more dust than I'd like, and a slower speed might reduce that. A 1.75" pulley would get me 220 rpm. The small pulley was $8 locally. The 12" pulley is about $35. The belt was $8 locally.

An alternative: http://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=5-1585&catname=electric has way more power than ever needed. Lovejoy couplers would add about $20. It's some more money, but a simpler, tidy powerful package. I'm tempted, but I already have one setup that's paid for, and can't use two.

That is the mill I use, I will try to get a picture before I go to work in the morning. Its a very basic flat base and hopper that I made from bits of wood I had left over from other projects. I just set it on a bucket when milling, but plan to build a cabinet at some point.

I used this for my hopper. I am on vacation so do not have a pic of my mill. I can post it Monday. Can get them at home depot.
