I am currently working on an outdoor kitchen with a italian style pizza oven. My kitchen will have a concrete countertop with a built in stainless grill etc. I want to incorporate a burner into this top. You can buy burners from the grill places but super expensive and low btu. Not for home brewing. This setup will be natural gas. Does anyone have any ideas or considerations on doing this. I use a keggle and would like to put it right on the countertop or on a raised ring of some kind. Has anyone seen this? Any help would be appreciated

Throw a Wok burner in there and it can do stir fry and beer. They start at 10 tip and go up from there so you can size it for your kettle.

BG-12 is a decent 5.5" burner - Just make sure you get the NG orifice for it, not propane.

BG14 or Hurricane are the 12's big brother and can be fitted for NG as well

Brendan, this is exactly what I did. I build a 1,079'Sq. patio and kitchen. I built in the 32 tip jet burner I've linked below. I Highly recommend it. :) If you are into Asian cooking, pick up a nice big wok 24" and a few smaller ones, 14"-16" versions. When you plan your cooktop area make sure you plan in enough space for the big wok. That big ass wok really takes entertaining friends to a whole new level! It feeds 30 pretty easily. :) I can share some of my recipes too if you like.

I think I have some pictures and videos around here of it, I'll see if I can't find some.

I guess I made a video of some woking. Forgive the loud music, I fear I uploaded this while sampling home brew...

I just got to thinking, that that video was made before my modifications to that burner. It needs to be 8" BELOW the bottom of whatever you are using over it, be it a wok or brew kettle. Also you need a TON of air flow for this thing, I'm taking at LEAST 230 square inch total of openings in the walls of your grill stand. I have 480 square inches of air inlet in my grill stand and sometimes I wonder if that is even enough. To mount it, get you a piece of 10" pipe the length you need and weld tabs on the bottom of it to hold the burner. That made a HUGE difference in mine.

Ha! I just saw you are in the OP! I'm from Manhattan originally, I'm through KC a lot going home.

Thanks for the help with the design. I have a couple of questions for you if you have time. Do you have trouble turning down the heat on that big burner if you just want to simmer or keep warm some strike water, also, can you give me more detail about the 8 inch distance from the bottom of the kettle. I am going to be using a keggle. Do you think 32 jets is too much? I see you are in ames. My Ragbrai bike club started there, the tall dogs. Do you know any of them?

Not that I know of, but admittedly I'm not a bike guy. I have no trouble turning down the flame, in fact, all I have for a control valve is the 1" ball valve on the gas line. Works perfectly. Also you can never have to much heat when you are heating up a large mass of water. I don't think it's to much at all, I love the set up. Hell I can even forge some steal with it, not saying I have, well ok, yeah I have. :ban:
