A guy I work with got a cider kit as a gift and a few weeks ago he bottled. He said he's pretty happy with the end product but noted that the carbonation seemed to die down pretty quickly once he put it in a glass. He gave me two but I haven't tried em yet. Any thoughts on why a cider would loose carbonation so quickly, I've never done a cider and I keg my beers so I'm of no help.

Nope. Not any different than anything else bottle conditioned.
Perhaps he carbonated to a low level.

Pour gently down the side of the glass to make carbonation last longer.
