I have 8 ball lock kegs and I have three different varieties of posts.

If i remembered what they look like, I have 4 John Wood types, 4 firestone types (gas) and 8 cornelius types.

I've been reading and it seems a 7/8" 12 point wrench or socket gets out ball lock posts. However, is that all of them or just the most common variety of post?

JW is 11/16"
Firestone is 5/8"
Cornelius is 19/32?

Anyone have a tool (new or modified) that they use on multiple kegs?

The 7/8" is just the most common size. I have two different post sizes in my keg collection, and just keep two dedicated wrenches in my keg tool kit. I'm sure you could do a little chopping and welding to make a single wrench, but it's not worth the effort for me.

Correction, I just measured them again and two kegs have one connection while the other 12 plugs seem to be firestone.
12 are measured at 7/8" (for the one that's not super pointed)
4 are measured at 11/16".
So apparently I have no cornelius plugs just JW and firestone

this one was 7/8" with my wrench

I'm assuming this one is too, but I don't have a wrench to fit this

this is the 11/16" one

Although my post doesn't look like the John Wood variety. It looks like a Cornelius see pics below. It looks exactly like a cornelius, but I swear its 11/16" measured by my wrench. Do they make cornelius sub-varieties?
John Wood
Cornelius

And I can't find pictures or examples of that Star like one either

I just received my first ball lock keg and the IN post is like the star one in your picture. How the hell do I get this off?

I have the same style and I used channel locks. You may need to get the proper socket though. Not sure of the size. Maybe 13/16"

I went to sears and got a dual socket wrench thing that has 11/16 on one side and 9/16 on the other. so they get the star and cornelius off. its like 10 bucks

My standard impact deep socket set fits all of mine no prob. Two sizes 7/8 and another (forgot). They are a little big so as to compensate for the little differences. No 12 pt needed.
