Well, the title says it all. I just opened a bottle of Merlot (my first wine!) that I made from a kit about 9 months ago and there is definitely some residual carbonation left in the wine. Is there anything I can do to save this batch?

If not what is the recommended method for degassing kit wines when fermenting in a carboy for future reference?

what method did you use to degass? did you degass at all? if that batch is bottled i do not think much can be done now to degass the whole batch. would have to be a 1 bottle at a time fix.

Yes at this point just open the wine and let it rest a bit before drinking...In furture either stir with a wine whip attached to a drill or let it sit in carboy for foour or five months then do not have to de-gas.

Since it's already in the bottle, could you not just plan a little ahead and open it an hour (or maybe a day) or so before you want to drink it, then use a wine saver to pull most of the suspended carbonation out of it?

I'm using something built from a wine saver to degass prior to bottling, but I don't see why it wouldn't work the same way after it is bottled.

Get yourself a glass wine decanter and pour the bottle in before serving. Let it rest and you will be fine. An hour before serving should do the trick.
