Hi,
Just wanted to do a very small bath of IPA in a 15 minute boil:
1 gal
Used:
1lb DME Pilsen
0.8Oz Sorachi Ace (15min)
0.8Oz Sorachi Ace (0min)

15minute boil
Yeast: US-05

All calculators show extremely high IBUs. I fear this will be undrinkable.
Any comments?

Luis.

It’s an awful lot of bittering for such a low gravity beer. You could always add another lb of DME boiled in half a gallon of water to lower the bitterness and boost gravity a bit.

BeerSmith says a 4.4% beer with about 55IBU's........IBU's are right where they should be but the grain bill is a little weak. That's assuming your Sorachi Ace were 13% AA and that is for a BATCH size of 1 gal (pre-boil 2.33 gal).

While this looks like it could be a monster. It's only a 15 minute boil on the hops and if you love the flavor of it it'll probably be a good sipper. Plus it's only 1 gallon, so if it isn't "perfect" you could blend it into either another beer or make some beermosas
