I let my first attempt at a lager ferment in my 50 degree basement for a week, then brought it upstairs for a diacetyl rest at about 65 degrees. I did not take a gravity reading before moving it, and I'm thinking I probably moved it too soon. Bubble activity had slowed down before I moved it, then sped up again with the warmer temps. Right now it has been at 65 for about 48 hours and the airlock is bubbling about once every 10-15 seconds.

At this point should I let it finish fermenting at room temp or bring it back down to 50? After it has finished fermenting I plan on lagering it in my kegerator at 34 or so.

Thanks.

No way to know without a grav. reading but I would say you jumped the gun. I let mine go ATLEAST two weeks at 50 before a D. rest.

Either way it should still be fine just make sure it ferments out all the way you might just end up with some off flavors. (esters, phenols etc.)
