Last night I went out with some buddies to our usual bar. On tap they had Monks flemish sour (if you live near Philly and haven't been to monks you need to go. Right now).
Anyways, besides that I saw A few other things I'd had, a bunch of IPAs but I'm not a huge hophead. Then there it was, the world wide stout.
It was served in an 8oz wine glass, which was strange but I quickly understood why. The aroma was divine, it made me wish I had a brandy snifter. No real head at all, even fresh from the keg. As such there was no lacing. It really was more like port wine than beer.
As for flavor, imagine the super sweetness of a good port mixed with the smoky caramel flavor of their chicory stout. Quite delicious.
I am going to have to see if I can get a few bottles somewhere.
What is everyone elses opinion?
