Had this tonight on draft at Collins Pub. The only way I can describe it is it tasted to me exactly like those Glade air fresheners smell. Just not sure which one... Mountain Meadow, Spring Rain, Prairie Mist... Whatever it was, didn't like it. Not a big fan of Deschutes in general though. The Abyss Stout however, very nice.

I recently had an Imperial IPA that also reminded me of air freshener... It was a 7.7% product out of Ottos Pub and Brewery in State College, PA. The combination of palisades, amarillo, and (oops I forget the other hop) caused a nasty-strong grapefruit air freshener taste.

Other than that it was drinkable and smoother than most IPAs.

The rest of Otto's brews are great though!!

Obsidian Stout? I agree! Its very tastey. My first clone of it was finished off in just a few hours. I'm racking my second version of it to secondary today.

That is one of my favorite beers. I have always been a fan of Deschutes. Anyone have a clone to their Black Butte Porter?

I LOVE the Black Butte Porter, but I could only get it when I was living up in Olympia, WA. They have nothing way down here in Texas. I would be interested in seeing a clone recipe for that as well.

Found a few:

Version 1

Version 2

Version 3

Just bought this yesterday to try along with some other IPAs tomorrow.

I'll post back what I think...

Different strokes I guess..
I love the hop henge, especially on tap at their brewery in pdx. Just had a bomber of it last night, and it was great.
The Abyss was great this year as well, have a few bombers in the cellar. I'm not really a fan of black butte, but anyone try the Black Butte XXI this year?
