Degassing kit with drill and stir rod

I'm making wine from a kit. The instructions say to stir vigorously for 2 minutes. I also need to add some packets and stir for two minutes vigorously. The instructions on the stir rod instruct me to do 3 intervals of Degassing for fifteen seconds each.

Which instructions do I follow?

Kit. But be careful. Start out slowly or you may end up with a wine volcano spewing on your floor.
