I had posted before that I had thought I had a infection and that I was having problems with my Conical.

I ended up racking to a glass carboy and the beer cleared wonderfully but I ended up seeing an almost oil or gas like hue on the top of the carboy yesterday.

It looked as though oil or gas was poured in water.

I thought nothing of it but today there is some deposits collecting on the sides of the carboy looks like fat on the top of a pot of soup.

I'm going to be throwing this away tomorrow but its so clear it makes me want to cry.

I could read a newspaper right through the carboy its the clearest beer I have ever had I used insinglass. Thats where I believe I may have got the infection.

I'm thinking that it was a dirty spoon. I sprayed with Idopher but did not wash it first. I also did not leave the sanitizer 2 minuets to work I pretty much sprayed it then put it in the beer and added the Insinglass and stirred.

I am brewing a blond ale right now in the conical and from what I have seen so far it does not look infected.

Be patient. I did a Fat Tire earlier this year with a kreusen during peak fermentation that looked like bad bread mold with long black hairs.... just freakin' nasty looking! I stuck it out and bottled it anyway. After a few weeks in the bottle, it turned out to be one of the best brews to date!
My LHBS owner passed along a few words of wisdom to me, "When you taste it, if it turns out to be something that you never want to touch your lips again, then toss it.... BUT NOT BEFORE!" You can't always go by appearance....
A little taste just before bottling will tell you everything. If it really sucks balls, you have only lost a little time in the secondary. If you toss it now, you may lose a really great brew....

I suggest doing a little research on NOT throwing away a batch just because of an infection. Remember, you cannot get sick from an infection... worst thing that could happen is your beer tastes bad. RDWHAHB!

It doesn't smell bad yet but it does have something forming on the top that I have never seen before. I may take a picture later and post it.

A picture would help a lot...taste it and see what it tastes like. If you start to cry because of the terrible taste in your mouth then yes....it is infected.
