When you guys mill rye do you have to adjust your grain mill? Barley Crusher in particular. Or would it be fine if I run it with the rest of the malt, 2row/pilsner/wheat. I have it setup with the factory default gap and don't really want to play with it.

i would mill it first, separate from other grains, and look at the crush. if it's not fine enough, run it through a second or third time. if that doesn't work then yeah, you'll need to adjust the gap... but try it alone first.

also, if you can control the speed of your mill, try milling slower.

I mill rye and wheat separate from barley, at .028", about the thickness of a junk mail American Express card. Barley gets .034", a regular credit card. No offense to rye. Or wheat. They just seem to prefer AE.

Monster Mill MM2, 1.5" rollers, 150-200rpm.

We still have various splits open with a total of 85 pounds yet to be claimed.

We also haven't set the actual date of the pickup, although I have seen some of us rooting for May 31, skipping Memorial Day weekend.

I had an incredibly good Rye APA by a Brewclub member on Saturday. There was not much left in the keg at the end of the day. I'll see if he wants to share his recipe.

Sorry for the loss of contact folks! I was in a place with little to no internet access for two weeks and just got off the airplane. Shooosh! So glad to be back home. Anyhow, I will get caught up with everything in the next day or two. Hope everyone has been brewing good samples!!

The 50# "sack" is compressed and hard, like a bale of hay. Once you open it, it blooms. You may need the volume of two 55# sacks to store 25# of it. Bring yours if you have it, and if a second is needed we're likely to have a spare from the other splits. Don't worry.

Tony said that 3 Stars only has May 24 and May 31 available for us, and he himself was hinting toward the 31st to circumvent Memorial Day weekend.

Yup...we are doing May 31st so if that is a problem, please make arrangements. I am happy to pickup and store grain for a few people for a reasonable amount of time.

This buy will close at midnight, Friday 23 May 2014. All funds are due at that time. Order will be placed 24 May and will be available for pickup at 3 Stars on 31 May.
