No, I haven't tried kefir yet, let me know if you come across any. For the Kombucha, I don't have much tea to give as starter (I might have more by pick up, gotta get another batch going), but a little white vinegar works fine. I'll probably separate them into zip lock bags to distribute.

I've been on the lookout for a (milk) Kefir source, since my 8-year old culture bit the big one a while ago. That was a very sad day. Now, I never heated or boiled the milk, just used (fresh) pasteurized and ferment in the fridge.

Yeah, ziplocks work great. Are you going to punch them out into small roundish shapes?

FYI, i recently bought flaked wheat from the bulk section of Whole Foods. so if we don't close this split and you need some before the next buy, you can find some there i forget what the price was.

I actually made a batch today and separated the extras I have into bags. They're not pretty, some are round, but each time you use one the baby will conform to the size/shape of the container at it's surface. The mother doesn't need to be round, it could be purée sitting at the bottom and a child will form just fine.

I vote for 2/14 pickup unless someone has a better idea. Lots of splits still need to be closed, which is not going to happen in 2 days.

A pick up on 2/14 would be really difficult for me. Other dates would work for me...

2 things to consider.

1) If we do it after 2/14 emyers will drop out with his 100# of splits. He's moving out of the area.
Even with a week to spare we need to hustle to close out at least half of the open splits to make the effort worthwhile.

2) If we do it 2/7, we need to close tomorrow. With 14 open splits, I'm sure the majority will be cancelled, making the whole buy kinda moot. I don't think too many of us are interested in doing the show for 10 sacks of splits either. It will also drop us under 30 sacks total as it stands right now.
