I started a Belgian ipa last night and it started fermenting ferociously by the morning. I went out for a couple hours, and when I came back the bung was popped out. Now it was nothing like those ceiling hitting blowouts I've seen, the bung was kinda hanging on the side, and the airlock didn't seem all that clogged, but there was material in it. I immediately switched to a hose and bottle system (after sanitizing). So just kinda wondering, why did this happen?

There was probably enough gas pressure to push it out with that active fermentation.
