Wow, I didn't realize how many people here were single or on second (or third, or fourth...) marriages.

I met my wife when I was 15, she was 14. We started dating when I was 17, we got married when I was 25. I just turned 40. I've been with the same woman my entire life. I'd be utterly clueless if I had to return to the dating pool tomorrow.

Same boat here. I was 18, she was 17, married at 20 & 19. 20 years together, married for 18. I couldn't date another woman now if I tried.

Congrats guys! I also got married as a teenager (18 and 19). Then divorced in my early twenties...

It's awesome that it worked out for you two, but I truly believe that most people shouldn't marry that young. I am a completely different person now than I was at that age. As a teenager, we barely know who we are, let alone how we will grow with another person.

I was married to a girl my own age for about 2 years before the wheels fell off. She acted like and tried to be my mother among many other things that were bad. I'm now with someone who is 8 years younger and we get along great. She's 23 and I'm 31. She never tries to control me and is truly supportive of me and anything I want to do.

I believe everyone should have a practice marriage.

My first lasted four years and ended amicably - we figured out it wasn't going to work forever before we had kids.
My wife's first lasted three years - and had an O'Henry ending. Also no kids.

We got married 39 years ago next April...

Just celebrated 27 years yesterday. My wife is 6 months older than me. I give her a hard time about it all the time.

As far as dating younger, I couldn't see myself ever dating anyone younger than 35. I think 35 is the perfect age for a woman.

Met my first husband when we were 16, married at 20. Three kids and 27 years later we finally divorced.
My new, much better, husband was previously married for 32 years. He's almost 12 years older than I, but we are both in perfect health and don't act like old farts.

When you're 21, and your girlfriend is 16... neither your parents nor your girlfriend's parents are very happy about it.

Now when you're 40 and want to date a 35-year old, funny how it doesn't matter anymore. But it's too bad she no longer looks the same as she did when she was 16.... (not to mention your own beer belly.....)

I'm 28. I have had 3 relationships in my life: When I was 16 I dated younger a girl (by months, relax) for 5 years. Then I dated another younger girl when I was 22 (that lasted another 4 years). She was also younger.

I am now in a relationship of 2 years and living with a woman 2 years older. She is the best.

Believe me, girls in their younger 20s have serious perks but good relationship are rarely one of them.

I hope I don't sound sexiest.
It's probably not their fault. I had a lot of growing up to do.

Had I dated my wife when I was 20 I'd probably just now be getting out of prison as she's 10 years younger than I. In my 30s it's perfect because I'm married to a girl that's as young as what my unmarried friends are chasing and younger that most of my married friends wives. Move forward to my mid 40s and the kids are pre-teen and I'm starting to get back some of that attention I've been missing. Perfect timing because now she's in her prime. Now I'm in my mid 50s. My friends that had wives are now mostly divorced and chasing women my wife's age or even younger . The friends that weren't married are married to women still older than my wife, and me, I'll still have someone who's young enough in her years to hunt down my dentures when I misplace them, wipe my drool and change my diapers.

One of my close female friends in high school habitually dated college guys. It always felt creepy at the time ("really, you're in college and have to resort to trolling for girls that don't even have their driver's license yet?"). Funny how that same 5-year difference becomes totally normal once both parties are out of school...or at least are legal.

We are really lucky/blessed to have the relationship and three grown kids we have. I think the secret is you have to marry your best friend. Oddly enough, I think if I had to go into the dating pool now, I'd do much better. I have much more confidence now that I have the perspective where I don't really give a crap.

No, I know what you mean. I feel far more confident than back then as well. I just can't decide if that confidence is due to age and wisdom, or just the fact that I have nothing on the line in my present situation (since I'm not actively trying to bring any women home with me).
