"In order to get one, you have to buy one of the $200 tickets — which sold out almost immediately — that guarantees drinkers, among other things, a four pack of Dark Lord and a randomly selected 22-ounce bottle of the rare barrel age varieties."

It's known by some as "the most wanted beer in the world."

Hasn't FFF already confirmed it's first come first served on the BA DL variants?

First come first served...TO PICK UP YOUR BAG.

In all seriousness, I think it's kind of interesting that this one sentence will make people speculate and become uneasy (for no reason) as folks go through the line and ultimately select the variant they want after they pick up their 4-pack.

On the other hand, if this IS true, it would be a fantastic troll by FFF to fill Group A bags with Earl and Group E bags with ZOMG VANILLA.

I trust the DLD FAQ over some DNA info writer, but we'll see I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I mean, at the very top of the page it says "*All information is subject to change*" and then "Please note that specific details of the Dark Lord Day 2016 event may change. Check back frequently as we will continue to update this page and answer your questions."

It certainly wouldn't be the first time a brewery decided to change things up a bit to make things run (arguably, who knows) a bit more smoothly...

I get the idea, but def not expecting all beers to be $5 again
Why not? I have no reason to believe that things wouldn't be the same price just different size glasses depending on the beer. Just like in years past.
I liked the idea of every beer was the same price, it made the exchange consistent and simple. Its easier for a sober volunteer to select the correct size glass for a beer rather than having a drunk festival goer do simple math with his tickets/coins.

Still trying to lock down bottles to bring. Want to stick with 4-5 bottles because of the taps. For sure bringing Oak Theory and Advanced Oak Theory and probably an 09 Perfect Storm. After that it's up in the air. Possibly Saison Bernice, Saison du Blé, Oxbox Goods From the Woods, HotD Adam FTW or Matt, Etc.

1 vote for the HOTD beers.
