I brewed a couple lagers. I'm not really that into light lagers but maybe I'll enjoy this latest batch on a warm May day and change my mind.

However, I've tried some delicious dark lagers at various restaurants and wouldn't mind giving that a shot. Any good recipes to follow out there? Do I just steep some chocolate / roast malt and flavor with some Kent Golding hops and otherwise brew as usual?

Look in the recipe section for Kentucky common. It's a Ale but you could use the same malt bill for a lager. I actually used lager yeast but fermented at Ale temps (stem beer) and man that thing was awesome.

I made a pale ale darker by using C120 which also added some sweetening. Even C60 would be a little darker and still sweet. Want it darker yet? Add an ounce or 2 of chocolate malt. Maybe a little melanoidin malt would fit too. Don't get carried away and add too much of any malt.
