Just a couple of things: phytosterols block cholesterol absorption but are themselves slightly absorbed and are atherogenic. I'd reconsider continuing those as you're just trading one sterol for another.
Red yeast rice IS a statin. It contains monacolin k, which is lovastatin. If you take a statin you need to take coq10 because statins inhibit coq10 production.

Drugs arnt **** and its the elimination of the bull**** that we eat that needs to be avoided. If "they" find a reason to make money they will, its such a crime that we have to investigate ourselves how to truly avoid these problems. They at all cost dont ever ever want a cure for cancer if they did they would have no buisness to make money, and yes there are cures you just have to dig and not trust in our dumb ass health system, that is a big cycle of death
Compared to placebo, people on statins had less fatal heart attacks and strokes. Say what you want about the drug companies, but the drugs work very well
Can you give me a reference for the phytosterols being atherogenic? My doctor doesn't have a problem with them.
As for the red yeast rice, yes, I am aware that it is a statin. I don't have any particular objection to taking a statin in small doses, as long as it doesn't cause side effects. The Lipitor was causing problems - the red yeast rice isn't. I am aware that there are some people who think statins in any amount are poison, but it was my doctor who recommended I take the red yeast rice after I stopped taking Lipitor, and I trust his judgement.
The drugs are there bc they save lives. Compared to placebo, people on statins had less fatal heart attacks and strokes. Say what you want about the drug companies, but the drugs work very well
