Specs and Info on the Plastic Merchandiser I use for my mash tun. I do 6 or 12 gallon batches and it works great for both. I am the Director of Marketing for a Plastic Company and we roto-mold these merchandisers. I've asked if we would be willing to offer these to the homebrew market since I've been so happy with the results and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Size: 21-1/4"Diameter x 34"H
Inside Diamter: 19-1/4" with a 12" and 14" small step.
70 quart capacity.
Merchandiser is molded with food grade plastic.
Highest quality polyurethane insulation (we must keep the big beverage companies happy - no condensation or leaking).
The molded in drain works flawless with any weldless spigot and bazooka screen (which is what I use).
I have a false bottom that I've used but prefer the bazooka screen.
Price: $49.00 directly to the company. I'm not lookin at getn anything out of it except just feeling good about helping other homebrewers like myself.
I use a high-density plastic top and it works fine. We do have a lid and wheels for extra costs (I don't use either)

IRP is a very successful company and we back our products 100% - ok, i'm done selling

HOPEFULLY THE IMAGES WORK THIS TIME! lol

can respond here or email me at [email protected] with any interest, comments or questions.

What is the interior depth to the very bottom? To the 11.5" step? To the 14" step? How deep is it from the very bottom up to the 14" step? What is the distance from the side wall with the recess for the drain to the other side? What temps is this capable of handling?

Very intriguing!

16-3/4" depth total
14-1/2" depth to first step
14-3/4" depth to second step
The step is about 2"

I'm tracking down our manufacturing engineer to get the exact spec on the temps, but we have put 212 degree water without melting (which no one will put that hot in for the grains - hopefully lol)

Oooooops! This is not a trash can. This is a very high-end ice merchandiser for the large beverage companies. Its double walled and fully insulated. 1-1/2" thick. Its very important we do not have condensation or leaking for our customers so it's top of the line. I just happen to start homebrewing and it works great.

Another quick question... so there is essentially about 18" of dead space from the floor to the interior bottom of the vessel? (that is why the drain is high irregular pulse would be my guess) Is it hollow beneath the interior "Floor" or...?

Correct. I'll take another picture and add that to the image gallery. We wanted a shallower core for this particular unit so they didn't have to use so much ice.

This is a fairly neat piece of equipment. What is underneath the bottom at 16.75"? That seems like a great place to mount an element and use this as a HLT. Of course, it depends on how much stability the plastic has at 212*F, even if it doesn't melt. If you were to use this for a MLT, you could maybe mount some kind of stir motor under that false bottom too.

Edit: Questions anwsered while I was figuring out what to type.

I agree uwjester, it has lots of potential. I actually envision that an element could be mounted in the drain hole as the recess for it on the inside in the shallow "step" should fit perfectly.

I am actually thinking this would be a great candidate for the direct fired electric MLT that a few of us have been discussing.

Based on the measurements, you could have the element mounted in the lowest recess, and only have ~1 gallon (less actually based on my paper napkin math) of liquid in the recess...

In the hollow under the interior bottom, my first thought is pump placement and/or stirrer as mentioned.

Look forward to more pics!

The description says polyurethane insulation. It looks like 3/4" wall thickness.
whoops.

That's what I was thinking too after seeing the new picture. Would the ones you sold to us have this too since you said it was like that for that particular customer to save ice? Or would they be to the floor?

aight guys. I set up a vendor account. Not sure how to use it yet LOL But i'll start a new topic as soon as I figure out what I'm suppose to do.

THANKS A TON to all for all the great feedback!! I think we might have a few other things you guys might be interested in too.

well we are getn stuff set up so we can get one in everyone's brewhouse! I'm gonna take some more pictures and video's this saturday during my next brew session. BREW ON!

These things look great. Any idea on the shipping prices ?
How heavy are these things, how much extra is the lid and is the lid insulated too ?

Shipping seems pretty cheap. They really arent that heavy. I know the one quote we sent to Pennsylvania was only $15 and we are in Iowa.

I'll get the upgrade prices on the lid and wheels.
