I was just given some 'Cry Havoc' to try. I have read this forum and researched - it seems like a very interesting strain. Does anyone have any first hand information; is it better as a lager yeast or ale, any off flavors, is there a particular style that is better than the other - any insight would help me determine where I will use it. I am debating just making a small SMaSH but a little more first hand knowledge helps - thanks in advance.

It is definitely an ale yeast. Charlie Papazian uses it in a variety of styles. I have thought about trying it but I have always read it has some mild fruity esters. Maybe someone else will have first hand experience but it seems like papazian wouldnt use it if it wasnt a good yeast. Austinhomebrew says it has medium to low flocculation and medium attenuation.
