Crushed grain ~1 month old

Hey,
I bought some crushed grain about a month ago, and haven't gotten to brewing (new job, and home remodeling projects) is this stuff still good? It was for a hefe so i think it was 4lbs pils 7.5 wheat. It was in a plastic bag, with a twitsty tie on it, and in my keezer at 37 degrees f.

Is this stuff good to use yet?

1 month isn't too bad. I say go for it. I bet nobody would know. I've used some crushed specialty grains that were probably 2 months old, stored air-tight at room temp and they were fine.

Brew It. Sealed Bag should be fine. I ordered quite a few kits at once when AHS was having their anniversary sale, and all the grains came crushed. It took me about 2 months to brew it all up, and never had a problem with stale tastes or low gravities. There are people on here that have let their crushed grains go 6 months plus and made good beer with it. Brew Away!

The people who buy bulk should be buying whole grains and crushing it as needed.

Taste it. If it tastes stale, there's your answer.

If it's been stored in a sealed bag, though it should be fine.

Ah I see, I've used crushed grains that I've had for a couple of months and efficiency hasn't been great, I don't think the crush was very good though. Beer tastes great though!

I don't think you should waste your time or possibly even the health of yourself or your loved ones and friends...could be deadly.

i wasn't concerned about health or anything important like that, just weather or not it will taste ok, usually i get this stuff and brew within a week, two tops.

I'm never concerned with important things either...
I can test it for you too though, see how it goes. Need my address? I'll report back in say... ...5 weeks?

I have used crushed grains that were 2 months old. It made great beer. As long as it is stored cool & air tight; it will be fine. Now I have an Ugly Junk Corona Mill & 50 lbs of 2-row.

i've used year old crushed grain for a black ale. tasted it before i used it, still crunchy. not sure about the efficiency but the beer turned out fine.

itll be fine i buy up to 2 imperial tons at a time the maltster i buy off(warminster) give their crushed grain a minimum shelf life of 3 months in the sack, (ive used stuff thats nearly 5 months old [before i went pro] with no ill effects)

used a sack of crystal last month that was 3.5 months old (due to poor stock rotation) and the beer tasted no different from the brew id done a few weeks before that

you brewed with grain that was milled or un-milled from 4 years ago?

I've used grain that was milled and two monts old with no problem. It was sealed in an air tight container and it tasted fine. Let us know how it comes out. I think you will be fine

Brewed a precrushed kit that was 8 months old. Grains were sealed and stored in cool dry basement. I did run them through another crush just prior to mashing. Hops were sealed and in the freezer. I did get new yeast. Beer was great.

I found three kits, two all grain, one with dried malt extract, in my basement with my equipment. Everything was crushed and all that beer sure was tasty. Would not say everyone could do that, your mileage may vary.
