Hi CreamyGoodness, I've seen you mention a few times about your celery mead. .. please share some tips on making this mead? It sounds very interesting! Thank you. :ban:

The recipe I used was simple.

1 liter of water
1 pound honey
1 heaping tablespoon whole celery seed
25 raisins
leaves of one bunch of celery, chopped
1 teaspoon bread yeast

I made this in a 1 liter vodka bottle with an improvised airlock, and gave it 6 months ferment/clearing and aging time :).

Great thanks I'll give it a try. That's roughly what I envisioned, except I didn't even think of celery seed, that definitely sounds good. Hm finding the leaves of a bunch of celery around here is going to be difficult, all the stores have only the tasteless stalks of celery completely stripped of all the tasty leaves.

This doesn't taste too vegetably? I infused vodka with celery to use in cocktails and drinking the vodka straight tastes downright awful.

I'm going to guess the fermentation alters and maybe smooths out the celery flavor to a degree, so it would probably taste quite a bit different than an infusion, especially after it ages out.
