uh.. Not sure of the proper name but I am in the process of building a mash tun from a rectangle shaped cooler. I am using pvc pipe that I got at the hardware store.

They only had one kind, so if there is a different type I need for hotter water, I have no idea where to get it.

Lasco at Lowe's: 1/2" Slip 90 Degree Elbow SCH-40

something like that, but not that exact item. I didn't get it at lowes and I don't know if the numbers/name is the same.

I used pex tubing to build mine and it works great. I believe if you go pvc you have to use cpvc which is rated for higher temps.

dammit! where the hell do I get that at?

I think I'll just wrap my grains in 5 gallon paint filters and forgo the pipe filters....

You can get pex everywhere. It's that white flexible tubing commonly used to replace copper piping in plumbing. I just used it to plumb my bathroom that I renovated. It's easy to work with too as it's easy to cut and flexible.

Yep, it's rated for higher temps and there is also a concern with leeching chemicals from PVC from the lower acidity of the wort. CPVC apparently does not have this problem.

I used copper compression fittings with brass hardware... also readily available at the depot or lowes.
